Background: Pericardial tumors are rare entities, often incidentally discovered when presenting with a combination of pericardial and pleural effusion, arrhythmias, and pulmonary embolic complications.
Methods: Case report.
Results: We report a rare case of pericardial tumor diagnosed and managed at Hoan My Saigon Hospital. The patient, a female, was found to have pericardial and pleural effusion secondary to a pericardial tumor, which was promptly diagnosed and treated.
Conclusion: Pericardial tumors are uncommon and present with diverse and potentially life-threatening clinical manifestations if not identified in a timely manner. In cases of massive pericardial effusion accompanied by arrhythmia and pulmonary embolism, malignancy should be considered. Tissue biopsy and multimodal therapy are key to improving patient prognosis.
